Rest Day
What I’ll be doing is using my off days to banter a little, give a little perspective on why I’m doing the program I am, point you to other good sources of information around the web, etc.
I found a great article over at T-Nation about Hacking Your Strength Training that I wanted to share. The premise of the article is that most of your results in any given endeavor come from a small amount of the effort. The Paretto Principle - that 80% of the outputs come from 20% of the inputs - is applied here to a strength training program. The template that Cosgrove uses is a full-body routine performed three times a week, utilizing all compound movements for the most bang for your buck and also using an undulating periodization model. If you would like more in-depth explanation, obviously take a look at the full article.
Also, if you find anything on this blog even remotely useful, please be sure to take a look at The Fitness Monster blog - for more specifics on the whats and whys of program design, tips about diet and supplementation, and even a little motivational stuff. Keep up those workouts and enjoy the rest of your weekend!
